In a nutshell, Optimized Muslim is founded with the intention to provide “Self-Development for the Muslim”.
“Optimizing the Muslim’s Mindset For Meaningful Success In This Life And In The Hereafter”
Optimized Muslim aims to help Muslims reach their Worldly and spiritual goals and become their “Optimized” selves by filtering the best of conventional self-help literature and modern science/studies through the lens of our rich Islamic heritage. Often times, we know what to do but we struggle with how to do it. This project ambitiously aims to narrow this gap through practical tips whilst also feeding the deeper spiritual fulfillment we yearn for. By engendering change at the individual level, the aim is to help uplift a generation of Muslims.
Let’s face it, the self-help world is saturated with content but if this content is not grounded in values that align with a Muslim’s belief system, the results will not be fulfilling. For example, what success means to an American Guru of no faith will differ dramatically to what success means for the Muslim – hence the emphasis on the word, “meaningful ”.
This is where Optimized Muslim comes in
Examples of our focus areas:
Since 2012, Aadil (the founder) has studied hundreds of books and consumed thousands of hours of videos, podcasts, and courses on all topics relating to self-development. Initially, this was a personal interest or hobby but he soon realized the transformational power of these ideas when viewed through the lens of an Islamic paradigm by virtue of the changes in his own life and those with whom he shared his findings. This led to the creation of this project.
“Whoever guides [another] to a good deed will get a reward similar to the one who performs it.”
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
As Muslims, we are blessed to have already been given so much clarity as to our purpose or “calling”. We do not have to go through life grappling with questions such as “Why am I here?”. We know why we are here. We know there is eternal life after death. Yet, why do we not act like we know? We know what is right or wrong but why do we not do more of what is right and less of what is wrong? In this age of information, knowledge is everywhere but the application is lacking. Often times, we know what to do but we struggle with how to do it. This project ambitiously aims to help narrow this gap.
Let’s illustrate this with an example (click on Read More):
Alif prays his salah, without fail. Baa, on the other hand, struggles to make his salah a habit. He sees others praying and praises their willpower and discipline thinking if only he had the same desire and energy. What Baa doesn’t see, however, is that praying salah is a habit for Alif. For Alif, praying his salaah is almost as habitual as eating or brushing his teeth. For Baa, the limiting belief is created as a result of simply not understanding how habits work. For him, praying salaah involves a tremendous amount of willpower. Why? Because he has not spent the time praying salah consistently until it has become an integral part of his life. He prays here and there. When he does pray, he thinks it will take the same amount of “activation energy” to pray the next time. When in reality, if only he prayed consistently for 2-4 weeks, praying would become an ingrained habit. This site, in essence, will focus on not what we need to do (we all know that), but how to do it by developing the necessary mindset, psychology, and perspective as well as leveraging different tools and techniques to achieve our goals in Deen and Dunya.
“How amazing is the affair of the believer. There is good for him in everything and that is for no one but the believer. If good times come his way, he expresses gratitude to Allah and that is good for him, and if hardship comes his way, he endures it patiently and that is better for him.”

@MuslimOptimized the podcasts you make are more important than you may think. As an English speaking westerner who is exploring Islam, content in English is extremely valuable. Keep doing what you’re doing and I look forward to future podcasts 😀
