What place do you give Allah (swt)in your heart, mind and lifestyle?
Can we agree that the answer to the previous question is ultimately what “matter” we fill our minds with directly affects the place we give Allah (swt). Do we fill our time with those things that are pleasing to Allah (swt) and increase our Taqwa? How much time do these activities take up in our day?
Is it any wonder that we often complain of a decrease in our iman but yet when we reflect on how we have spent our time and what has traversed through the organ in between our two ears, we realise, or we should realise, exactly why. It is not “rocket science”, as they say.
If we spend our days engaging our brain cells in all that is against our religion and gains the displeasure of Allah, wiring our brain by creating neuro-connections born out of this, what state will our Iman be in?
The reminder here is that we should not try to explain away our level of iman or connection with our religion by viewing it as an esoteric, mysterious blessing that comes and goes in an unexplainable manner. We should examine our thoughts and actions and take more responsibility which will empower us to change.
